MEDICAL ASSISTANT PROGRAM

The Glenn Medical Assistant course is designed to meet for 360 hours classroom plus 180 to 200 hours clinical experience, and will provide students with the necessary entry-level skills required for employment in doctor's offices and clinics. The Medical Assistant course is taught by a Credentialed Educator, who is trained and works in the medical field.
Medical Assistants help physicians by doing tasks to assist in the treatment and examination of patients. They provide for the efficient operation of a doctor's office. After completing the medical assisting core-curriculum, students are placed in non-paid clinical internships to practice and improve their skills.
The course areas of study include: Vital Signs, Infection Control, Reception, Back and Front Office Management, Insurance Billing, Record Keeping, Aseptic Procedures, Examination of Patients, Pharmacology, Diagnostic Tests, Communication Skills, and Laboratory Procedures. In addition, our students have practice providing 10 injections and have had supervised training in blood draws. Our Medical Assistants take the Certified Medical Assistant Exam, with statewide certification.

The Medical Terminology course is a prerequisite to entry into the Medical Assistant Program. The MT course may be taken online through Glenn Adult Program for $150.00. There is no cost to concurrent high school students.
