Career Technical Education (CTE) refers to a broad range of educational programs and courses designed to provided students with the knowledge, skills, and training needed for specific careers or trades. CTE is focused on equipping individuals with practical, hands-on skills and knowledge that directly relates to various industries, professions, and technical fields.

1. Hand-on Learning: CTE often involves practical, hands-on training in real-world settings like labs, shops, and studios.

Agriculture - Agribusiness management, animal science, crop production and horticulture, agricultural mechanics and technology, forestry and environmental science
Arts, Media, and Entertainments - Graphic design, film and video production, digital animation and game design, performing arts (music, theater, dance), broadcasting and journalism
Building and Construction - Architecture, engineering, construction management
Culinary - Baking pastry arts, restaurant management, food science and safety, catering and event planning
Education & Child Development - Early childhood education, teaching assistant or paraprofessional, special education support services, curriculum development, education technology
Healthcare: Nursing, medical assisting, dental hygiene
Hospitality - Hotel and resort management, event planning and coordination, tourism and travel services, customer service operations
Transportation - Automotive repair and maintenance
3. Preparation for Employment: The goal of CTE is to prepare students for immediate employment upon graduation OR to provide skills required to further study in specific fields. CTE programs align with industry standards and certifications, which increase employability.
4. Opportunities for Certification: Many CTE programs offer students the chance to earn industry-recognized certifications, which can give them a competitive edge in the job market.
Butte-Glenn Career Pathways Consortium
AEBGC - Glenn Adult Program is a member of the Butte/Glenn Adult Education Consortium. The Butte-Glenn Career Pathways Consortium is a regional, collaborative partnership with Butte College as the fiscal agent, Butte County Office of Education, Butte County school districts, Glenn County Office of Education, Glenn County school districts, business entities, community organizations and agencies, local workforce investment board, and CSU, Chico.
